Session B: Independents and Operators
Independent and IOCs are playing an increasingly pivotal role in shaping a practical and inclusive local content model for Namibia’s emerging oil and gas sector. With closer ties to regional markets and a greater operational agility, these companies are proactively embedding local participation into their business strategies, prioritising Namibian employment, supplier development, and in country value creation from the earliest project phases.
Best practices are already emerging, including structured mentorship programs for local SMEs, partnerships with vocational institutions to align skills training with industry needs, and transparent procurement processes that give Namibian businesses fair access to opportunities.
This session will highlight how independent and IOCs are not only meeting regulatory expectations but going further to create sustainable ecosystems that build technical capacity, strengthen local supply chains, and ensure that the benefits of resource development are broadly shared across Namibian society.
