Executive: Upstream Development & Production, National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR)

Mtundeni “Iron” Ndafyaalako has over 13 years’ experience in multi-disciplinary oil & gas industry environment, including senior management and leadership roles in upstream NOC and regulatory settings. He is currently the Executive for Upstream Development & Production at NAMCOR, responsible for active shaping of the field development plans towards sustainable and ESG-conscious development & production of Namibia’s recent oil and gas discoveries. Mr Ndafyaalako is the recentinterim Managing Director of NAMCOR, is a Board Director at Petrofund, and was the Director and Chairperson of Sungara Energies, a UK-registered NAMCOR E&P subsidiary. Mtundeni is responsible for NAMCOR’s local and international commercial upstream projects.

Mr. Ndafyaalako holds a Master of Science in petroleum geosciences, a Master of Business Administration (finance and asset management), an honours degree in geological engineering (petroleum exploration and production), and Executive Management Development certificates and Senior Management Development certificate both from the University of Stellenbosch.

Prior to joining NAMCOR, Mtundeni served at the Ministry of Mines and Energy as a senior petroleum inspector responsible for regulation and compliance, recognized for refining the current regulatory workflows. Mtundeni then joined NAMCOR as a geoscientist, before taking up the role of New Ventures Manager, leading a specialized team of geoscientists, petroleum engineers, economists, and lawyers which evaluates and conducts technical, commercial, and legal due diligence on NAMCOR’s new business projects.

Mtundeni is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Geoscience Council of Namibia (GCN), Geological Society of Namibia and Geological Society of Africa (GSA).
