Hatem Salem
Hatem Salem is an energy industry leader with nearly 30 years of experience in the global oil & gas sector. He currently serves as Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa at Baker Hughes, where he oversees Oilfield Services & Equipment business across the continent.
Hatem began his career as a drilling fluids engineer with Baker Hughes in Egypt in 1996. Since then, he has held regional and global leadership roles in operations, sales, marketing, technology and business integration. Prior to leading the Sub-Saharan Africa geozone, Hatem served as the Global On-Demand Solutions leader at Baker Hughes where he focused on managing global partnerships and nurturing local businesses.
Throughout his career, Hatam has worked in the United Arab Emirate, Egypt, Chad, Libya, Italy, Greece, Albania, United States, Kuwait, Asia Pacific, and Saudi Arabia, and is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a degree in chemistry from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt and as well as certificates from many executive leadership education programs.
