
Victor Ekpenyong
Dr. Victor Ekpenyong, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Kenyon International, is a renowned expert with over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having honed his expertise at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Harvard Business School, Lagos Business School, and Strathmore Business School. He holds an MBA from the Business School Netherlands and a B.Tech in Project Management Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ekpenyong has focused on addressing critical challenges in well drilling, completion, and control, setting new standards for operational efficiency and safety in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Dr. Ekpenyong has pioneered innovative solutions, such as idle well management and remote well control strategies, which are crucial for securing assets, reducing oil theft, and maximizing production. He highlighted these topics during the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum. His academic work, Idle Wells Reactivation: The Kenyon Story, presented at NAICE 2022 and published on OnePetro.org, offers industry insights into optimizing idle wells to support Nigeria’s energy transition. Under his leadership, Kenyon International achieved a significant milestone in early 2023, contributing to Nigeria’s oil output reaching 1.35 million barrels per day through robust well integrity strategies.
Driven by a strong commitment to education and community development, Dr. Ekpenyong cofounded the Victor & Helen Foundation with his wife, providing scholarships and renovating educational facilities for underprivileged students. His contributions also extend to strengthening law enforcement infrastructure and constructing roads in remote areas to improve connectivity, earning him recognition from the Nigerian Navy and Military. He has been honored with United Nations
POLAC awards, including the Youth of Peace Ambassador (YPA) and Mayor of Peace (MyrP) titles, and holds a fellowship with the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI).
His company, Kenyon International, was named Africa’s Most Reliable Oil and Gas Company of the Year in 2022, and he was awarded the “Jewel of Inestimable Value” by the Niger Delta Youth Coalition, highlighting his dedication to social progress and empowerment. As a mentor, Dr. Ekpenyong actively supports young professionals through the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and shares his entrepreneurial insights globally, including at the 10X Thrive Summit, where he presented Taking the Market as an Underdog: The Kenyon Success Story.
