Fernando Sylvester serves as the Managing Director and Principal Consultant at Nautilus Mining and Energy (Pty) Ltd. Primarily, he is an Exploration Geoscientist with more than 15 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector. Previously, he worked at Tullow Oil for a decade, a prominent independent oil and gas explorer in Africa, where he was based in both South Africa and Ireland. His expertise covers various offshore basins in Southwestern Africa and the conjugate South American margin, focusing on exploration activities in Angola, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, Namibia, South Africa, and Suriname.

One of his notable projects involved updating the Namibian offshore prospect portfolio for the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Namibia (MME). Currently, he is engaged in a similar project offshore Angola for the Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis (ANPG).

Fernando holds an Honors degree in Applied Geophysics and Petroleum Geology from the University of Cape Town, along with an MBA from the Management College of South Africa, and an Investment Management Certificate from the University of Cape Town.

Apart from his technical skills, he actively contributes to the company's success in various capacities. He has been involved in Employment Equity Committees in South Africa, the South African Geophysical Association (SAGA), and has also served as a Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors for NAMCOR, the National Oil Company, in Namibia, demonstrating his dedication to corporate citizenship.
