Professor Chinedum Onyemechi, Professor of Maritime Management Technology, Federal University of Technology Owerri is specialist in the fields of Ports, Shipping and Offshore Logistics and Technology. He is a member of Nigerian Content Consultative forum, Shipping Logistics sector and has contributed to Nigeria’s, offshore and shipping development via conference presentations across Africa since 2011. He has taught courses in Offshore Technology at the postgraduate level in conjunction with other related Maritime Safety and Security courses at that level. His core areas of competency are in applying core management and leadership theories in technology transformation of maritime technology organizations such as the Naval and Maritime Security outfits, Merchant Navy, Offshore ocean systems management to mention but a few. He has made presentations in the areas of green ports development ,FLNG tehnology,application of the center of the gravity model to maritime security outfits, supply chain optimization in logistics and offshore operations to mention but a few. Professor Chinedum Onyemechi has produced over three PhD graduates and over 12 MSc graduates in the last five years. Prof Chinedum Onyemechi graduated from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria, Department of Maritime Management Technology, 1989.After some years in the private sector, part of which includes the Nigerian Ports Authority (NYSC), Shipping and Ports Administration programme (UNILAG CONSULT), he proceeded for his M.Sc in 1998 and took employment with the Federal University of Technology Owerri as a Research Assistant. He was awarded an M.Sc in the year 2003 and appointed as an Assistant Lecturer the same year. In the year 2011, he was awarded a PhD in Maritime Management Technology. Prof Chinedum Onyemechi also consults for Port Technology Consultancy Services Owerri. Besides having experience in marine consultancy, Prof Chinedum Onyemechi is an accomplished academic with one hundred and nine published works in conferences and learned paper publications in Maritime Management Technology most of which has been presented in academic and industry based conferences in countries including but not limited to United Kingdom, Egypt, South Africa, United States of America, Canada, India, Spain, Russia and Nigeria Prof Chinedum Onyemechi became a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping in 1990 and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in the year 2008. He was appointed Acting Head of Department of the Department of Maritime Management Technology, an office he assumed in the month of July, 2016 to 2017 He became full Professor in Maritime Management Technology, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria in the year 2018.He is currently external Examiner in Marine Science and Transport to postgraduate school Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Portharcourt, Nigeria as well as EU Project Coordinator Erasmus +ICM STU Bratislava and Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria.
