Shell Namibia Upstream B.V. is exploring for oil and gas offshore Namibia in Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL39), a licence area located approximately 250km from the southern coast. The PEL39 licence is a joint venture between Shell (operator, 45%), QatarEnergy (45%) and NAMCOR (the national oil company of Namibia, 10%). The company’s activities are focused on understanding the resource potential of the licence area through offshore exploration.
