As preparations progress for the 4th Namibia Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (NOGC), scheduled to take place from 18–20 August 2026 in Windhoek, the conference delegation, accompanied by its strategic partners, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Kornelia Shilunga the Special Advisor and Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Office of the President.

The delegation was led by Jason Kasuto, Chairperson of the Economic Association of Namibia (EAN), and included Cons Karamata, Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Association of Namibia, and Shakwa Nyambe, Managing Partner of SNC Incorporated, a strategic partner of the conference.

The engagement formed part of the conference's ongoing stakeholder engagement and provided an opportunity to brief the Upstream Petroleum Unit on the evolving conference programme, the calibre of international participation, and the strategic priorities that will shape discussions at this year's event.

Under the theme, “From Decision to Dividend: Making Namibia's Oil Work for Namibians,” the 2026 conference reflects the country's transition from discovery to value creation. As Namibia advances its upstream petroleum agenda and prepares for first oil, the conference will provide a platform for government, industry, investors and development partners to engage on policy, investment, local content, infrastructure development and long-term economic transformation.

The conference is expected to welcome more than 1,400 delegates from over 35 countries, together with 29 sponsors and 42 exhibitors, the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference has established itself as the country's premier platform for dialogue on the future of Namibia's energy sector.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the participation of senior government leaders, international oil companies, global energy executives, investors and industry associations, while seeking strategic guidance to ensure that the conference programme remains aligned with Namibia's national priorities and the objectives of the Upstream Petroleum Unit.

Hon. Kornelia Shilunga welcomed the update on preparations and confirmed her attendance at the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference 2026, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration between government, industry and strategic partners as Namibia advances the responsible and inclusive development of its petroleum resources "The conference presents an important platform to bridge the information gap between industry and local businesses by facilitating practical discussions on supplier readiness, certification requirements and opportunities for greater local participation," she stated.

Hon. Shilunga further emphasised that local enterprise development must remain central to Namibia's oil and gas journey "Namibian entrepreneurs are eager to participate in the sector but often lack practical information on how to access opportunities within the industry. There is a need to equip local businesses with a clearer understanding of the goods and services required by oil and gas operators, the certification and compliance standards expected by international companies, and the pathways to supplying offshore operations and vessels. Furthermore, it is important to empower Namibian enterprises to become competitive, investment-ready and capable of participating meaningfully across the petroleum value chain," she added.

Following the engagement, Jason Kasuto the Chairperson of the Economic Association of Namibia, highlighted the significance of engaging with the Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Office of the President in ensuring the conference remains aligned with the country's strategic objectives "The Namibia Oil and Gas Conference is one of the country's premier platforms for dialogue on the oil and gas sector. The scale of the conference reflects the growing interest in Namibia's energy industry. We have placed significant emphasis on local participation, making it important to engage with the Office of the President to receive strategic guidance and ensure that the conference aligns with the national vision for the sector," he noted.
